Captain’s Status – “Getting Ready for Fireworks!”

Happy 4th of July to all of my US residents! It’s that time of year again when we get to watch those beautiful fireworks go up into the night sky. I missed it last year because of my 3 months stay in Thailand… so this year I’m pretty excited! I plan on shooting the fireworks today in Vero Beach, at a secret location ;-)

The fireworks photo above was taken on Saturday after the ball game at Roger Dean Stadium. I was thrilled when I found out that they were shooting fireworks because it gave me time to practice before the big day.

My one tip for shooting fireworks is to set the shutter speed at about 4 seconds. This will give you enough time to get streaks going into the sky and a good explosion. If you’re lucky, you’ll get multiple explosions in one shot!

Captain Kimo’s HDR Portrait eBook is done!
