Hundreds of bikers were at the South Florida Fair show off their motorcycles to the crowd by driving through the fair. It was a very cool opportunity for me to catch some tail lights and fair rides all at once. You better believe I made the best of it!
Mangrove Island Lake Worth Lagoon Singer Island Florida
Mangrove Island… that’s not it’s real name, but I call it Mangrove Island because it’s one large island of mangroves. A bunch of pelicans call this island home. Soon this island will be completely white because of all the pelican droppings. I’ll be sure to post that when I get it. Then I’ll call it Albino Mangrove Island.
Black and White Version of Captain Kimo’s Driftwood
Here’s a black and white version of the previous driftwood photo. This is what happens when I process too many photos in one day. My eye gets tired and I start to lose the ability to decide what looks good and what doesn’t. This will be my fifth photo posted for today… four more to go!
Captain Kimo’s Driftwood from Lake Worth Lagoon at Munyon Island
Here’s another shot of Captain Kimo’s Driftwood from Lake Worth Lagoon. I have another one coming that’s cropped and converted to black and white. Let me know which you like better.
Singer Island Condos from Lake Worth Lagoon
The most difficult part about shooting the Lake Worth Lagoon at Singer Island is avoiding the Condos from getting in the scene. It’s pretty tuff since the are all over the place.
Captain Kimo’s Driftwood at Lake Worth Lagoon
I am totally claiming this as Captain Kimo’s Driftwood, lol. So if you plan on going out to shoot this you’ll have to refer to it as Captain Kimo’s Driftwood.
Mangrove Tree During Sunset at Lake Worth Lagoon Singer Island
I’m going to start my nine post marathon today with a bang. This was shot yesterday during sunset at Lake Worth Lagoon on Singer Island. I had my eye on this lone mangrove tree for awhile. I finally decided this week to camp this area until I got that shot and yesterday I finally got it.
Sunset Panorama from Lake Worth Lagoon at Munyon Island
My third attempt this week for a sunset at Lake Worth Lagoon, and you know what they say… “third times a charm.” Well in this case it was true. I’m working backwards through this series. This was shot 30 minutes after sunset so you can imagine what the others will look like. Let’s just say, I finally got the mangrove shot I wanted from this place, and then some.
Carlin Park Raging Wave at Sunrise Jupiter Florida
I am missing my Canon PowerShot S90. Ever since it took a nose dive and crashed on the rocks I’ve been feeling incomplete. Every serious photographer should have something similar for capturing those casual moments in life. This was one of those images.
Mangroves from Lake Worth Lagoon at Munyon Island
I’ve said this before, mangroves are one of the hardest subjects to shoot. When you’re there, they look amazing, however they don’t translate well into a photograph. I think this is due to a lack of color and intensity of detail. That’s why when post process these images I will almost always convert to black and white or duo tone.
Hungryland WMA at Night Under the Stars
I couldn’t sleep last night so I drove out west to Hungryland WMA area to see how the MIlky Way looking. It wasn’t as spectacular as I was hoping but way better than being in the city.
Driftwood at Lake Worth Lagoon by Munyon Island Florida
I tried again this morning for another shoot at Lake Worth Lagoon. I didn’t have any hopes for a good shot. But you never know what the day will bring until you get there. It didn’t bring much! I got less than five minute of color as the sun peaked through the clouds. It was enough to salvage this mornings uneventful sunrise.
Captain Kimo at Munyon Island Walking Lake Worth Lagoon During Low Tide
This evening I went out to Singer Island and walked across the Lake Worth Lagoon to Munyon Island. I was hoping to get a good sunset but that didn’t happen. It was looking pretty good until it disappeared behind some dense clouds. At least I managed to snap this self portrait before the sun vanished.
Crazy Spinning Ride at South Florida Fair Grounds
I must be getting old. I remember when I was younger I would get on these rides back to back now it makes me sick just watching these things spin around in circles. Photo taken at the South Florida Fair.
South Florida Fair Full of Color for Eye Candy
I went to the South Florida Fair yesterday to shoot the night lights and colors. The colors at the fair was too much for the eye can see. This photo kinda gives you an idea of what I mean.
Captain Kimo and the Kapok Tree in Palm Beach Island
The Kapok Tree in Palm Beach Island next to the Flagler Museum can’ t be appreciated in a picture unless there’s someone standing next to it to show it’s enormous size.So here’s a shot of me standing on one of it’s roots.
Big Kapok Tree at Flagler Museum on Palm Beach Island
My favorite tree in all of Palm Beach County is this Kapok Tree located next to the Flagler Museum in Palm Beach Island. There was enough lights to illuminate the tree very nicely considering it was nighttime. The moon added a little flare to the image as well. Two exposure HDR using Photomatix Pro.
Captain Kimo and Frank Kitzerow, Chief of Police from Jupiter, Florida
The Jupiter Chief of Police, Frank Kitzerow, loved this Jupiter Lighthouse Full Moon photo so much that he wanted the Captain to personally sign it for him.
Duke University Chapel Durham North Carolina
Last year during my trip to North Carolina, I visited Duke University and had a chance to see the chapel that was part of the college. What a beautiful building to photograph. I can’t believe it took me this long to get around to posting it.
Fallen Dead Tree Jupiter Ridge Natural Area Florida
I was driving up to Jupiter for a sunset but noticed there was no cloud action in that direction. After passing Juno Pier I decided to visit the Jupiter Ridge Natural Area, a park that I’ve never been to before. Found some cool dead trees but that was about it.
Pelcians Flying Into Sunset Jupiter Florida
This shot was from the day I got waist deep in water. See my new profile image. The funny part is I used a set of images that was taken later in the evening where I shot from dry land. This is 4 exposure panoramic, stitched in Photoshop, tone mapped in Photomatix and processed in Lightroom.
