Frenchman’s Reserve Sunset

Feb 1, 2011 | Sunrises & Sunsets

A lot of my shooting is last minute because when I go out I want to be able to bring back something amazing. So I really never plan a shoot but I always keep my eye on the weather and sky, especially around sunset. And when it looks as if I’ll get something great than I go.

The limitation to this is travel distance. When I see a nice sunset I have about 10-15 minutes to get somewhere. That doesn’t give me many options. The Palm Beach Gardens area doesn’t offer much in terms of photography. That’s why a lot of my photos are out of the local district.

During the Golden hour every minute is crucial. To save time I find it helpful to  have a list of places to shoot and the time it takes to get there. Unfortunately for this sunset I had even less time, about 5 minutes.

There was only one place I can go on my list within 5 minutes, the PGA Bridge. Driving to the PGA Bridge, this place popped into my head. I’ve always wanted to shoot here but never had the opportunity, until now. With the limited time I had, I decided to give this place a go.

I certainly glad I went here instead because now I have a new place to add to my list, and this place only takes me 5 minutes to get to!
