New Captain Kimo Website Now Live!
Welcome everyone to the new CaptainKimo.com! As you know I’ve been busy working on this site for the past couple of months and I’m excited to finally say “it’s done!” Well… almost done, I still have lots of work to do and over 200 posts to update to the new format which will require some time. But not to worry, I plan on posting new photos along with the old photos from here on out.
As you might have noticed my HDR How-to Guide has been updated and is now broken into 5 chapters. I’ve also updated the Single Exposure HDR Tutorial which is now part of my Mastering HDR series. The latest tutorial which is also part of the Mastering HDR series is Shooting Portrait HDR. Please leave your comments and let me know what you think.
There may be broken links and missing photos so please let me know if you run into any problems. As I’m working on updating all the old posts you might experience a little craziness, so keep in mind this site is still only 90% done.
Thanks to all my loyal readers and shutterbug friends for making this all happen. I appreciate your patients and support!
Cheers,
Kim Y. Seng

Hey Scott, it has been a while! We’ll get together soon I’m sure.
wohoooooooo!!!..very nice..well done Kim..looking forward to see the new photo…
Thanks Momoc. I know you’ve been waiting to see it for a while.
Hi Kim I meant to tell you a few days ago when I visited that I think your website looks great. Got wandering down all the links and signed off without signing up. AAAh more emails…LOL. but yours will be different because they are filled with educational info. I just read your how to do the HDR with one image and I can’t wait to try it. I like how you wrote info on the screen shot. Well done and easy to follow.
Thanks Mel… I really think the step by step instruction help out a lot. I like reading other peoples tutorials and watching their videos but it’s hard to follow sometimes without the a step-by-step guide.
Hi Kimo, First time I have come across your site. I am new at hdr but I have to say I love your site and its very informative and has already taught me some points in this type of style of photography. Your hdr is clean not too overdone that is what I am gearing towards. Great job on the Topaz angle. I use the same plug ins. I just have to ask you at which point of the workflow do you incorporate textures in your hdr images? (eg: the mockingbird hdr image)Thanks and keep up the great work!
Textures are added usually after I’ve done processing everything. Merging exposure, tone mapping, touch-up, color editing… etc. I’ll add a nice texture only when a photo looks like it can’t stand alone. Needless to say I avoid from doing textured when I can as it takes up a considerable amount of time to do.
Hi Kimo,I love your site. It’s a very educational site with lots of info. I am new at hdr, so I hope to learn a lot of your great tutorials. I am a photographer and web-designer my self, so I know how hard it is to design and maintain it.
Great job!!
Thanks Ruud, it’s been my pleasure working on this site, I’m just glad I enjoy doing it all.
