Paddle Boat Lady from the Floating Market Thailand

Mar 28, 2013 | Portraits & People

Today I finally went to the famous Floating Market that Thailand is better known for. I was hoping to see some authentic food being sold but it ended up being a tourist trap. I’m not sure if I ended up in the wrong market but this Floating Market was not what I expected. After being in the paddle boat at the market I found the people more interesting than the market itself. So instead of photographing the market I ended up photographing the people. This poor old lady is one of the paddle boat workers who push tourist around the water market. Some of these old ladies are pushing 6 people in one boat that to me seems very labor intensive. Needless to say I left my paddle boat lady a nice tip unlike the other patrons.
