Loxahatchee Slough Wetlands at Sunset

Jan 23, 2011 | Sunrises & Sunsets, Wetlands & Everglades

Captain Kimo is finally journeying into the wetlands of Florida. Beyond the barb wire fence is a whole new world that most Floridians never see. This is what Florida is all about, the Everglades, which is basically land covered in knee high water that’s filled with beautiful scenery.

There’s a reason why most Floridians don’t see this side of Florida, because it’s wild! Living within the wetlands are large man eating gators and deadly water moccasins. And if that don’t scare you then maybe the Boa constrictors will. That’s right … there are Boas in those muddy waters!

Careless owners release these gigantic snakes into the wetlands when they get too large to keep and too expensive to feed. These snakes are rapidly increasing in number and are slowly taking over the everglades.

But that doesn’t scare Captain Kimo because he’s an idiot willing to go any lengths to get the perfect shot.
