Grand Kids Eating Boiled Bananas

Mar 21, 2011 | Portraits & People, Travel & Culture

There’s more than one way to cook a banana in Thailand. The last post had Grandma roasting bananas for the children. This single exposure HDR has the grand kids eating boiled bananas that Grandpa just finished cooking. Boiled bananas are by far better tasting than roasted ones… at least the boiled bananas still have flavor. But of all the ways to cook a banana, my favorite is thinly sliced fried bananas. Hopefully grandma will make batch before I leave ;-)

In this photo I had to Photoshop the little boy wearing the red sweater. He moves a lot, like all little boys do, and ended out of the focal plane which made him blurry. To get him more in focus I had to super impose him from another exposure. This is something I do often when I shoot a group of kids. There’s always one that never stays still!

Once again another single exposure HDR tone mapped using Photomatix and processed using the new and improved Captain Kimo Photoshop Action designed specifically for post processing people and portraits to get the affect seen above. I’ll have the PS Action available once the e-book for it is complete. Included with the package is 10 Photomatix tone mapping presets. I use these presets as a starting point for my single exposure HDR portraits.
