Canon EOS 5D Mirror Problem – It fell off!

Mar 5, 2010 | articles

Today my Canon EOS 5D mirror fell off. That’s right… it fell off! I was convinced my HDR shooting style was the cause of this unfortunate mishap. But after some research I uncovered the Canon EOS 5D Mark1 has a recall for this exact problem. When I found out I was disappointed it wasn’t my shooting style, but excited because the recall included a free cleaning, which my 5D needed desperately.
I called Canon support after reading the letter below. Canon’s support was very professional and extremely helpful. My suggestion, if you have this problem, call their support group. The number is available below. Just be sure if you bought this camera used from someone that you have their name. Because they asked me and I bought mine used. Luckily I still had the name of the previous owner in my email.
