I am missing my Canon PowerShot S90. Ever since it took a nose dive and crashed on the rocks I’ve been feeling incomplete. Every serious photographer should have something similar for capturing those casual moments in life. This was one of those images.
I tried again this morning for another shoot at Lake Worth Lagoon. I didn’t have any hopes for a good shot. But you never know what the day will bring until you get there. It didn’t bring much! I got less than five minute of color as the sun peaked through the clouds. It was enough to salvage this mornings uneventful sunrise.
Here was my first shot from this morning when I was at the Hillsboro Lighthouse in Pompano Beach, Florida. It ended being a amazing sunrise that was well worth the drive to photograph this historic lighthouse.
This is a photo from the archives from my trip to Portland, Maine. This is the lighthouse located in Cape Elizabeth. This lighthouse is the most photographed lighthouse in the US. I’m not sure how they come to figure that out.
Large wave rolling into Coral Cove Park during sunrise at Jupiter Island Florida. High dynamic range image tone mapped in Photomatix and processed using Photoshop and Lightroom.
Here’s a fresh photo from this morning. The waves were happening but everything else was nothing to get excited over. HDR photo taken with Canon 5D MK2 and tone mapped using Photomatix Pro, processed in Photoshop and Lightroom.
This is so far my favorite HDR photo from Coral Cove Park. It has the best colors using 6 exposures for the full range of light while shooting directly into the sun.
Happy New Years! I hope everyone had a safe and prosperous year for 2011. Here is the first sunrise photo for 2012 by the Captain!

One of the the most beautiful sunrises that I’ve ever seen at Coral Cove Park in Jupiter Island, Florida. HDR image processed using Photomatix Pro, Photoshop and Lightroom.
