Mangrove Tree – Phuket, Thailand

Feb 12, 2011 | Travel & Culture

Getting ready to fly over to Thailand for another 50 days. Here’s a cool HDR photo I found in the archive, of a lone Mangrove tree. I shot it last year during my stay in Phuket . If all goes well I might have some more cool HDR photos for captainkimo.com. But we’ll still have to wait and see, because this trip is more family than business.

On a more exciting note, there seems to be an escalating border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia, which has been going on for years. They’ve been fighting over a piece of land that has a lot of historical value. Now it seems the dispute has turned into all out gunfire! But here’s the real exciting part, I’ll be spending most of my time close to the area that they’re fighting over!

Never a dull moment when I go over to Thailand that’s for sure. Last year I stayed in Bangkok during the Red Shirt protest. As luck would have it I got to spend my time right in the middle of the war zone!  This is the strip in Bangkok where the Army and the Red Shirt protesters went at it. Unfortunately I had to leave right when the real fun started.

Which reminds me I still need to post my photos from that day. I think you all would love to see Captain Kimo’s first shot at photojournalism.
