Manfrotto 055XDB Tripod

The Manfrotto 055XDB tripod is a lightweight, handy, and sturdy tripod. It has a simple center column and more conventional locking knobs. It has four pre-set independent leg angles that allow superb flexibility in positioning. These also permit the camera to reach intermediate heights from the minimum to maximum extension. The tripod plate has a 3/8” screw and three-angled pull up screws that prohibit the unscrewing of the ball head. Manfrotto also placed great anti-rotation collars that allow the photographer to open, set up, and close this camera tripod easily and quickly.

Sporting a sturdy all-metal build, this Manfrotto tripod can support up to 15.4 lbs but should carry ideally around 11 lbs for optimum performance. This tripod replaced my hand-me-down tripod that broke during my vacation in Maine. I am very comfortable with my new tripod’s admirable build quality as I have no worries it will fall and not be able to support my camera gear. This tripod can support my Canon 5D mounted with a hefty Canon EF 100-400mm L lens without any hassle. Its metal construction erases my fears of it failing or breaking during a vacation unlike what happened to my older tripod.

The Manfrotto 055XDB tripod is indeed one of the most rock-solid tripods that I ever laid my hands on. The price I paid for it was all worth it as it performs just about everything I ever expect and require it to do. This is an excellent fallback for those people who just cannot afford to buy an expensive carbon fiber tripod. This tripod is, without a doubt, a top performer relative to other tripods in its class and price range.
