Grandma and Dom Making Straw Carpet

Mar 14, 2011 | Portraits & People, Travel & Culture

Here’s a single exposure HDR of Grandma and Dom making a straw carpet. The tool being used to make the carpet was handmade by grandma out of bamboo. Straw carpets are very popular in Thailand and most of Southeast Asia. These carpets are used as mats for sitting… and even sleeping on. Country folks in Thailand don’t sleep on beds, just straw carpets. Next time I plan on staying out in the country I am definitely packing an air bed!

This HDR image was the first to test out my new Photoshop action for creating this artistic affect. The action is similar to the my old Photoshop Action with some minor tweaks. Once I’ve processed a few more images with it, I’ll start writing a new e-book. I should have it available next months.
