Picturenaut Image of Cape Elizabeth

Picturenaut's HDR results impressed me so much, I had to do a final version of Cape Elizabeth. While doing the HDR comparison I saw lots of potential for this image. I used the HDR results that came from Picturenaut and Topaz Adjust to produce this image. I used Picturenaut to create two HDR images. One image for the clouds and another for the rocks in the foreground. I did this because I was unable to get the results I want with the clouds and the foreground in one image.
I then took both images and merged them in Photoshop with one layer on top of the other. I mask out the parts I didn't want from the clouds layer and used Topaz Adjust to enhanced to details in the clouds. I then began doing a ton of Photoshop work, cloning areas and rebuilding parts of the image. I really wanted this image to be an absolute photograph of nature so I took out the fence and the house. Afterwards I flatten and adjusted the colors and unsharpened the entire image.
As simple as this image is it gave me quite a work out in Photoshop. I normal don't like spending to much time in Photoshop but when I see something amazing in my head, I go all out trying to reproduce it.
I just wish I had my Manfrotto 322rc2 during this trip, I would have had many more photographs to show of Cape Elizabeth. Instead I had my cheapo hand-me-down tripod, you know... the half broken one you start off with because you're to cheap to buy a new one, big mistake!

Man cape elizabeth is beautiful. I never knew it was this amazing. great photography too.
Thank you.
The view is breathtaking. The photoshop work is very well done too. Though I wished it didn’t have to go through photoshop, in that way I could have appreciated the original look of the place. But still, thanks for posting this one. bookmarking software

Hi, very nice post. I have been wonder'n bout this issue,so thanks for posting
OMG!!! This picture is just unreal. I absolutely love it. I just got my first digital and I am getting used to it. Hope to get as good as this.
Great Photo! I love the blues! You have some really impressive HDR shots!
You mention in your comment above that you have a few videos you were gonna make. Did you ever have a chance to do those? Where can I find them?
Do you have a videos section on your website where I can see all of your videos at once?
Chris, thanx... I do plan on having a page that will list all my videos I just haven't gotten around to it cause I've been busy and there is currently only 3 videos.
I'm glad you like my photos. I will of course be uploading more photos soon. I've decide to record my screen as I'm processing the photo and I will upload a video along with the photo so people understand how I get my results. So it will take me at least a week to upload new photos. The photograph of Cape Elizabeth was 3 exposure merge of +2, 0, -2 the merge was done using Picturenaut. You can download it here http://www.hdrlabs.com/picturenaut/index.html for windows only : ( Picturenaut is free and it's a great liitle HDR software. If you decide to use this I would recommend using Topaz Adjust with it. This program is a detail enhancer that will help make your image pop. You can download a trial version at www.topazlabs.com if you decide to buy the software you can use my coupon code captainkimo to save 10% off the price. Learn more about Topaz Adjust and the coupon code here.
I will doing a video tutorial on Topaz Adjust soon. When I have it posted I will let you know. I hope this helps... Captain Kimo
