Captain Kimo at Rice Fields During Sunrise

Mar 13, 2011 | Portraits & People, Travel & Culture

Here is my first HDR self portrait from this current Thailand trip. I decided to get up early and walk over to the rice fields near by. During this time of month Thailand is surprisingly cool, especially early in the morning.

Notice the rice fields have just been plowed waiting for the rainy season, which doesn’t start until April. I’ve been here 26 days and haven’t seen a drop of rain since. Amazing compared to last year when I was here between May and July, it rained practically everyday.

This HDR photo is a 3 exposure image, unlike the single exposure portraits that I’ve been taking of other people. It’s easier to shoot three exposure of yourself then someone else. I shoot single exposure of other people because I don’t want to ruin the moment by telling them to hold still for 3 shots. So far it’s been working very well, all my shots are as I pictured.
